Gloria Mae Simpson, 66, a resident of Davenport, died Sunday, June 1, 2014 at UnityPoint Trinity Rock Island.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Oakdale Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorials may be made to the family.
Born on April 27, 1948 in Rock Island, Gloria was the daughter of Vernon and Wilma (Gray) Simpson. She married Gary Strawhacker. He preceded her in death.
Gloria loved to shop at Goodwill and eating at restaurants. She cherished her time spent with her family. Gloria attended First Assembly of God Church in Bettendorf.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Debi Gonzales, Jodi Strawhacker and Melissa (Sherman) Williams, all of Davenport; son, Jeffrey Strawhacker of Davenport; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; sisters, Sybal “Kay” Jennette of Weatherford, TX and Bonita Jett of Davenport; brother, Donald Gray of Oregon; and five half-sisters.
She was preceded in death by Dorothy Spencer (Mom), her parents; husband; son, Kevin Strawhacker; and daughter, Michelle Baez.
