Grace G. "Gracie" Carlson

Grace G. “Gracie” Carlson, 97, of Clinton, Iowa, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Bickford Cottage in Clinton.
Funeral services, originally scheduled at 12:00 P.M., Friday, December 19, 2008 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge, have been cancelled due to impending weather conditions. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Community Congregational Church of Clinton. Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements.
Gracie was born July 28, 1911 in Scott County, Iowa, the daughter of Henry & Etta (Meinert) Buhmann. She was united in marriage to Wilhelm F. Carlson on March 3, 1945 in Davenport. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Gracie retired in 1971 after 31 years of employment in the bookkeeping department at the former Sears-Roebuck Company. She had worked in several different locations throughout her career. She had lived in Florida for the past several years. She enjoyed playing cards and going for rides. One of a kind, Gracie was known to make friends very easily and although she did not have children, she certainly was loved by those that she knew.
Those left to honor her memory include two step-daughters; one step-son; one step-daughter-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Wilhelm, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Luella Lineburg; her brother, John Henry Buhmann; and six step-children.
