Gregory Truman

d. November 6, 2015

Gregory D. Truman, 59, a resident of Iowa City, formerly of Bettendorf, passed away in the loving arms of his wife, Judy Carbaugh, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. We lost our husband, brother, uncle, and friend on Friday, Nov 7, 2015, due to complications from a grand mal seizure.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the family.

Greg was born on Oct. 15, 1956. He lived in Bettendorf, Iowa, where he graduated from high school in 1974. After attending college at Augustana, he lived in Chicago for five years, and then moved to the Los Angeles area in 1984. He returned to the Quad Cities in 1997, where he met the love of his life. Greg and Judy acted onstage together at Playcrafters Theatre, then moved to Iowa City and married there on August 6, 2005.

Greg always looked at the bright side of life. He said that he was a "true man" (a pun on his last name), and his first name suited him because of his gregarious personality! He was very kind, generous, and loyal to all who came into contact with him. He was passionate about music, sports, and had a broad knowledge of all that is beautiful. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwayn & Joan Truman, and nephew Matthew Russell.

Greg is deeply missed by Judy; his sister, Pat, Coon Rapids, MN; brothers, Tim (Leslie), Woodstock, IL, Brad and Barry (Barb), Bettendorf, and Garry (Lynne), Omaha NE; and sister-in-law, Diane (Edwin) Hung, Cedar Rapids, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
