Harlen F. Duncan, 69, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 21, 2008 at Our Savior Lutheran Church of Bettendorf where he was a member. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
He was born August 30, 1938 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Harlen O. & Frances E. (Thomasson) Duncan. On March 26, 1960, he was united in marriage to Shirley M. Haugen in Davenport.
Harlen was employed as a Chemical Laboratory Analyst at the Alcoa Company, retiring in January of 1999 after 40 years of faithful service.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Harlen loved the times spent with his friends having coffee, enjoyed playing golf and the challenge of crossword puzzles.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Shirley; his sons, Michael Duncan of Bettendorf and Anthony “Tony” (Pamela) Duncan of Bettendorf; his wonderful grandchildren, Ada, Mitchell, Jonathan & Nicholas; his in-laws, Dorothy & Gene Jones of Bettendorf, Bev & Carl Meier of Davenport, Karen Schroder of Davenport, Jim Haugen of Peoria, Illinois and Don & Sally Haugen of Davenport; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
His sisters, Edna and Dorothy; his brother, Glen; and his parents preceded Harlen in death.
