Harold Ford

Rev. Harold L. Ford, 89, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 9:00 A.M. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday at Orendorf Cemetery in Canton, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Open Bible Standard Churches.

Harold was born on July 7, 1922 in Canton, Illinois, the son of Charlie & Nellie (Bell) Ford.

On June 2, 1946 he was united in marriage to Esther Belle Baughman in Marshalltown, Iowa. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2000.

Harold was ordained as a pastor in 1944. He retired from Caterpillar in 1984 having worked there for 25 years. He was a Minister at Evangelical Bible Church in Davenport from 1952 to 2011. He previously owned Bee-Line Automotive Service Garage.

Harold loved to spend time with his family. He liked to fix anything that was broken, also enjoyed remodeling, working on cars, traveling and helping other people.

Those left to honor his memory include: his son David (Barbara) Ford, Davenport, Iowa; his daughter, Mary Ford, Davenport, Iowa; seven grandchildren, David J. (Amber) Ford, Justin Marts, Jessica Marts, Kimberly Ford, Joshua (Adrienne) Marts, Steven Ford, Zachary Ford; seven great-grandchildren; his brothers, Delbert (Patricia) Ford, Crossville, Tennessee and Francis Ford, Pekin, Illinois.

In addition to his wife, Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Martha Davenport, two sisters, Helen Bender and Thelma Ford and three brothers, Paul & Ted Ford and Cecil Sweney.
