Harold Nelson

Memorial services for Harold Oscar Nelson Jr., 92, of Eldridge, Iowa, will be 11:00 am on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge, IA. Family will greet friends on Saturday from 9:00 am to service time at the church.

Harold passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Davenport Lutheran Home, Davenport, IA.

Harold was born on August 12, 1930, in Moline, IL, the son of Harold and Ardis (Patrick) Nelson. He graduated from St. Ambrose College in 1956, where he received a bachelor’s degree in communications. He married Beulah Stowe on November 11, 1951, in Rock Island, IL. She preceded him in death in January of 2017.

Harold worked as a manager of several Goodyear Stores for 30 years, his last store was in St. Louis. He then worked for the State of Missouri, retiring in 1992.

He served in the Illinois National Guard, he was a member of the V.F.W., Eldridge and enjoyed traveling with his wife Beulah.

Survivors include his daughters, Gayle (Mike) Staples of Eldridge, IA, Nancy (Rich) Raaf of St Louis, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Marilyn Purvis and brother, Kenneth Nelson.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Davenport Lutheran Home for their loving care.
