Hazel Marquette

Hazel L. Marquette, 91, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the Alverno Health Care Facility in Clinton, Iowa.

Her funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to the Alverno Health Care Facility.

Hazel was born March 7, 1925 in Fairfield Township, Iowa, the daughter of James & Phoebe (Voshell) Thomas.  She was united in marriage to Wilbur Marquette on July 10, 1944 in Baraboo, Wisconsin.  He preceded her in death in 2000.

Hazel had worked at the former Antoine’s Restaurant in LeClaire for many years.  She was also employed with Woolworth’s in earlier years.  She enjoyed cooking, Euchre, bingo and the casinos.  She loved the joy of her grandchildren.

Those left to honor Hazel’s memory include her daughters, Janet Hull of Camanche, Iowa and Dorothy Marquette of Clinton; her sons, Gary Marquette of Bettendorf and Mike (Sheila) Marquette of Camanche; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her sisters, Charlotte Chapman of Davenport and Velma Cox of Wadena, Iowa; and her brother, Woody Thomas of Wadena.

In addition to her husband, Wilbur, she was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Sheri.
