Hazel M. McDaniel, 96, a resident of Eldridge, Iowa went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 9, 2004 at the Davenport Good Samaritan Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Genesis Medical Center Auxiliary or to Faith Lutheran Church. Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born May 28, 1907 in Eldridge, the daughter of Henry & Caroline (Zabel) Wiese. She was a graduate of the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa where she received her degree in mathematics and music.
On December 12, 1934, she was united in marriage to Victor H. Koch. He preceded her in death on June 18, 1944. She was later united in marriage to Charles E. McDaniel in Rock Island, Illinois on February 5, 1947. He preceded her in death on June 11, 1972.
Hazel was a loyal member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. In addition she was a member of the Blackhawk Hiking Club and was a dedicated volunteer with the former Mercy Hospital Auxiliary. In her spare time she loved to bake and was an accomplished seamstress.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons & daughters-in-law, Dr. Thomas & Cheryl Koch of Macomb, Illinois, Larry & Sharon Koch of Eldridge, Dennis & Lana Koch of Mesquite, Texas and Mike & Debbie McDaniel of Davenport; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lois (Mrs. Albert) Hamann and Carma (Mrs. Harold) Stevens; and by her brother, Donald.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Good Samaritan Nursing Center for the wonderful care their mother received.
