Helen Duex

Helen M. Duex, 82, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Manor Care, Locust Street in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2019 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf, Iowa.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.

Helen was born on October 5, 1937 in Mauston, Wisconsin, the daughter of George Washington & Cora Mae (Hann) Holden.  She was united in marriage to William R. “Bill” Duex on January 14, 1956 in Davenport.  He preceded her in death on May 31, 2014.

Helen had been employed at the former Fisher’s Grill, the Italian Village and Burke Cleaners in earlier years.  She enjoyed Canasta and Bingo and the occasional trip to the casinos.    She also enjoyed NASCAR, feeding the neighborhood squirrels, her grand-dog Mickey and preparing wonderful family dinners.

Those left to honor Helen’s memory include her daughters, April (Frank) Hull, Joyous Duex and Gayla Duex; her son, Raymond Duex, all of Davenport; and her grandson, Eric Duex.

In addition to her husband, Bill, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mary Tinnian and Dorothea Swanwick; and her brothers, Everett, Lawrence, Ralph & Glen Lester Holden.
