Helen E. (Holly) Shouse, 87, of Davenport, died Friday, May 9, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A Rosary Mass Service will be at 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 19, 2014 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove, Iowa. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of plants, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Helen was born July 25, 1926 in Arenzville, Illinois, the daughter of Ben & Hazel (Zillion) Herbert. She was a graduate of the former Davenport High School.  Holly was a Cosmetologist in her earlier years and enjoyed being a Mother and homemaker with her children as they grew up. Holly was united in marriage to Russel F. Shouse on September 9, 1945 in Beardstown, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 7, 2005.

She loved being with her family and especially the time with her grandchildren and the great-grandchildren; they were the “sparkle” in her blue eyes. She was very strong in her faith and known to pray her rosary every day.

Holly will be missed and especially remembered as a giving, selfless wife and mother.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Pamela (Kevin) Kerker of Dover, Pennsylvania, Pennie (Rick)Engler of Las Vegas, Nevada and Brenda (Joe) Drummond of Long Grove; her sons, Gary (Schary) Shouse of Danbury, Wisconsin and Carey (Bob) Shouse of Moline, Illinois; her grandchildren, Katie (Jon) Frye, Jen (Steve) Genck, Becky (Kris) Carter, Valerin ( Ashley) Morris, James ( Kate) Gimbel, Rachel (Sean) Burmeister, Nikki (Andy) Roth and Ben Engler; eleven great-grandchildren with two on the way; her sister-in-law, Lula Little of Beardstown.

In addition to her husband, Holly was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Pete Miller; her sisters, Margaret Mundt and Marie Oster; and her sister-in-law, Phyllis Smith.
