Henry C. “Hank” Stutt, 84, a resident of Eldridge, died Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street in Davenport.
Memorial services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at church. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or to the Eldridge Volunteer Fire Department. Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on March 10, 1933 in Eldridge, Hank was the son of Harry and Anna (Harms) Stutt. Hank served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 – 1955, stationed aboard the U.S.S. Oriskany. On April 2, 1960 at First Christian Church in Davenport, he married Rebecca Madden.
Hank worked alongside his father as a mechanic at Hawkeye Garage in Eldridge; becoming the owner/operator in 1973 and retiring in 2013. He served on the Eldridge Fire Department for many years, 1976-1981 as chief. Hank enjoyed making stained glass, fishing, card clubs, and spending time with his family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Becky; daughters, Jane (Brian) Doerscher of Bloomfield, Iowa and Darcy (Richard) Gertz of Eldridge; sons, Douglas (Kim) Stutt of Eldridge and Hobart (Sarah) Stutt of Calamus; grandchildren, Wayne Doerscher, Heather (Kama) Doray, Dana (Justin) Buesing, Stacy Gertz, Jordan Stutt, Garrett Stutt, Tyler Liebold, Lydia Stutt, and Madelinn Stutt; ten great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Loraine Crooke of Eldridge and Kay Friederichs of Dixon, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Phyllis Lensch and Geraldine Murphy.
