Herbert R. “Herb” Weaver, 76, a resident of Davenport, died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Davenport. Burial will be at Overman Cemetery in Atalissa. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the family. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on March 15, 1937 in Wilton, Herb was the son of Harry and Elva Mae (Barklow) Weaver. In August 1956 he married Sharon K. Reeves. They later divorced. He later married Eunice Jensen in Las Vegas on August 20, 1987.
Herb was a dock worker for Oscar Mayer in Davenport for 42 years. He was a hard worker who always had a few side jobs, including cleaning the Davenport Bank Building. Herb was a member of the UFCW Union local 431 in Davenport. He was Lutheran by faith.
Herb loved sports and westerns and enjoyed watching the Super Bowl. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Bears fan. His current favorite NASCAR driver was Matt Kenseth. Herb cherished time spent with his family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Eunice; children, Marty Weaver, Kathy (Mike) Yaudas, Julie Parks, Lynne (Jon) Sawyer, Denise Jensen and Sherrie Manley, all of Davenport; 16 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister, Carol (Don) Sawyer of Arizona; brothers, Kenny (Shirlene) Weaver of North Liberty, Bob Weaver of Davenport and Jim (Marlys) Weaver of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray Weaver; sister, Rosie Pitman; and granddaughter, Sarah Weaver.
