Hershel L. Worley, 73, a resident of Montpelier, Iowa, died on August 19, 2003 at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport, Iowa after an extended illness.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, August 22, 2003 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa. Interment will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Genesis Pulmonary Unit or Genesis Cancer Center..
Hershel was born November 8, 1929 in Lebanon, Missouri, the son of Walter & Gladys (Coleman) Worley. He married Ivadelle "Ivy" McBride on May 5, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the Army from 1951 to 1953. Hershel was in the service station business for 44 years, owning and operating Twin Bridges Shell and Duck Creek Shell in Bettendorf. He retired in 1996. He was a member of the 28th Infantry Division Society and enjoyed to travel and fish in his spare time.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 52 years, Ivy; his daughter, Debra Deere of Davenport; his son & daughter-in-law, Darryl & Diana Worley of Bettendorf; his granddaughters, Michelle Deere-Branch and her husband, David, of Chicago, IL, Clarice Deere of Davenport, and Katherine Worley of Bettendorf; two special aunts, Marie Coleman and Betty Barnhardt, both of St. Louis, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers and one sister.
