H. Harold Rawls, 75, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 30, 2007 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House.
He was born December 26, 1931 in Greenway, Arkansas, the son of Thomas & Pauline (Karnes) Rawls. On October 19, 1953, he was united in marriage to Shirley E. Evans in Corinth, Mississippi. Shirley, the love of his life, preceded him in death on February 21, 2007.
Harold was a foreman at the J. I. Case Company in Bettendorf, retiring in 1984 after 34 years of faithful service. The last 22 years, he was the machine shop foreman.
During the Korean Conflict he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged following the war. He was a member of the American Legion of Blue Grass, Iowa.
Harold was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed making wind chimes and wishing wells. He loved watching classic & western movies and in earlier years, enjoyed fishing.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Paula (Dr. David) Pratt of Bettendorf and Karen (Rodney) Rogers of Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Julie (Trevor) Olson of Davenport, Tom VanBlaricome of Bettendorf; Chris, Laurie and Joanie; his great-grandchildren, Alexander Olson. Ahmad, Sierra and Charlie; his step-grandchildren, Danielle Pratt of Davenport and Christopher Pratt of Bettendorf; his brother, Donald (Carol) Rawls of Utica, New York; his nephews, Jeffrey, Carmen and Donald Rawls; and several cousins.
