Howard B. Sible, 85, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at his home.
A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Holiday Inn & Suites, 4215 Elmore Avenue in Davenport. Private burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gilda’s Club of the Quad-Cities.
Howard was born July 16, 1931 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Howard Sr. & Hazel (Pranger) Sible. He was united in marriage to Grace E. Madson on June 7, 1959 in Eldridge, Iowa. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2002.
Howard served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Iowa. He retired from teaching in 1989 at Bettendorf High School. Howard had volunteered with ReStore and Gilda’s Club of the Quad-Cities.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Jennifer (Joe) Burke of DeWitt, Iowa and Kristine Sible of Davenport; his sons, Grant (Jennifer) Sible of Austin, Texas, Michael (Meisha) Sible of Winterset, Iowa and Anthony (Vickie) Sible of Bettendorf; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Roberta M. McLaughlin.
