Hugene “Skip” Carson, 71, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa.
His funeral service will be held at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 2400 Middle Rd. in Bettendorf. He will be laid to rest at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Genesis Heart Institute of Davenport or the American Diabetes Association.
He was born in Iowa City on October 19, 1939, the son of Hugh & Genevieve (Kirk) Carson. On April 6, 1968, he was united in marriage to Frances J. Galaty at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Bettendorf.
Skip was an industrial engineer and was employed at several area manufacturing firms over the years. In later years, he worked at the Great River Bend Transit until his retirement.
During the Viet Nam Conflict he served in the U. S. Army
Skip was a member of Trinity Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M. of Davenport and was a former member of the Davenport Consistory and Kaaba Shrine.
In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, walking and most of all, his beloved family.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Frances; his daughter, Elizabeth Ann (Scott) Beauregard of Bloomington, Indiana; his son, Kirk Alan (Jorie) Carson of Davenport; his brother, Kirk Carson of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; his niece, Victoria Slade of Tiffin, Iowa; his nephew, Kirk David Carson of Forest Lake, Minnesota; and his brother-in-law, Sherman Files of Tiffin, Iowa.
Skip was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Dorothy Alice Files.
