Ida Hux

Ida Charlene “Sally” Hux, 89, of Bettendorf, died Friday, May 15, 2015 at Manor Care, Utica Ridge in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Bettendorf Presbyterian Church.

She was born February 5, 1926 in Monroe County, Iowa, the daughter of Wencil & Bernice (Beaty) Coulson.  Earning her nickname, “Sally” at an early age, she was a 1944 graduate of Moulton High School in Moulton, Iowa.  Sally was united in marriage to Melvin L. Hux on June 29, 1946 in Ottumwa, Iowa.  He preceded her in death on February 27, 1978.

Sally had been a school bus driver in earlier years and was the secretary with McGinnis Funeral Home in Bettendorf for many years.  She had also worked at Tanglewood Hills Pavilion.  A longtime member of Bettendorf Presbyterian Church, she was actively involved with Bettendorf’s Old-Timers Picnic, the Birthday Club and the Red Hat Society.  Sally also enjoyed line dancing and square dancing

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter & son-in-law, Charmel & Gary Mouridy of Flemington, New Jersey; her son and daughter-in-law, Larry & Debra Hux of Moline, Illinois; and her grandchildren, Carly Hux, Steven Hux, Doug Mouridy, Christina Mouridy and Gabrielle Mouridy.
