Teacher, mother, Christian and loyal friend were words that would easily describe the life of Ilene Stroud. She was born December 9, 1946 to Oril and Silvana “Sally” (Hudson) Bettis in Corydon, Iowa. On July 12, 1969, she married Don Stroud.
Ilene loved to teach and spent her career teaching kindergarteners for 35 years. She taught many different children age classes at church where she impacted many lives and shared the gospel of Christ with many children. She was never afraid to give her opinion and would stand up and object when she felt something wasn’t right.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Don; her children, Mandy (Chris) Mallicoat, Jay (Melissa) Stroud and Andy (Stacia) Stroud; ten grandchildren, Abby, Reagan, Eli, Emma, and Sam Mallicoat; Charlie and Lila Stroud; and Drew, Talia, and Johnny Stroud; sisters, Sondra Remer and Nancy Bettis; and many nieces and nephews. Ilene will be forever missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-father, Orie McFarland.
