Ina Mae Ashley, 88, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the Newburgh Health Care Center in Newburgh, Indiana.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 10, 2010 at Asbury United Methodist Church of Bettendorf where she was a long-time and faithful member. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Davenport. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Courageous of Monticello, Iowa.
She was born January 29, 1922 in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of George & Blanche (Bonsall) Spurbeck. On November 5, 1944, she was united in marriage to Harold R. Ashley in Mason City, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 17, 1982.
Ina was employed as a secretary at the Bettendorf Public Library for 10 years and in earlier years, was a secretary at the Southeast Regional Library in Davenport.
She was an active member of the church’s Dorcas Circle and devoted many hours to church-related activities.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Robert R.J. (Deb) Ashley of Mesa, Arizona, David (Rose) Ashley of Newburgh, Indiana and Scott (Sandy) Ashley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her grandchildren, Amy (Jed) Turton, Austin Ashley, Taylore Ashley, Jarad Ashley, Kim (Jon) Guza, Kelly (Courtney) Miller, Mike Ashley & Travis Hoekstra; and her great-grandchildren, Maggie & Natalie, Alex, Ian & Eli and Evie.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Todd Ashley; two sisters and four brothers.
