Ione Schneckloth

Ione K. Schneckloth, 94, a resident of Eldridge, Iowa died on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at her home.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church of Eldridge where she was a charter member. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Peggy Darland Memorial Scholarship at North Scott High School, the Dawn Schneckloth Memorial Scholarship at North Scott High School or to the Eldridge Volunteer Fire Department.
She was born on August 5, 1918 in rural Donahue, Iowa, the daughter of Albert & Frieda (Nielson) Hoffmann and was a graduate of Davenport High School. On December 9, 1939, she was united in marriage to Merle J. Schneckloth in Davenport. He preceded her in death January 12, 2002.
Ione was a devoted wife, mom & grandma who in earlier years, taught in a one-room schoolhouse in rural Donahue.
In addition to the church, she was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star in DeWitt, Iowa.
She loved to bake and enjoyed arts & crafts. Playing cards with her many friends was also a favorite activity and she remained a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs all of her life. Her beloved family was the joy of her life and although they will dearly miss her, her memory will live forever in the hearts of those who knew & loved her.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Tami (Joe) Gumpert of Eldridge; her sons, Dean (Mary) Schneckloth, Jim (Janice) Schneckloth, Bob (Sue) Schneckloth and Dan (Jana) Schneckloth, all of Eldridge; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; her son-in-law, Jack Darland of Eldridge and her granddaughter-in-law, Kelly Schneckloth of Liberty, Mississippi.
In addition to her husband, Ione was preceded in death by her daughter, Peggy Darland in 1982; her grandson, Dane Schneckloth in 2011; her daughter-in-law, Dawn Schneckloth in 2004; and her brothers, Don Hoffmann and Robert Hoffmann.
