Born on November 13, 1926 near Argo, in LeClaire Township, Iva was the daughter of Otto and Martha (Hamann) Wendhausen. She attended rural school and graduated with honors from Davenport High School in 1944.

She was united in marriage to Alvin Auliff on March 1, 1949. Together, they farmed the family farm until Alvin’s sickness in 1984. Alvin preceded her in death on October 1, 1998.

Iva fulfilled a dream to be a salesperson by working at J.C. Penney for six years and later volunteering in the Trinity Hospital gift shop. Iva was very proud of her new home in Princeton and loved baking and taking care of the flowers and mowing the yard. In recent years she enjoyed her trips with Northwest Bank, her friends of the Class of ’44, Argo bunch and especially the daily morning coffee at Bridges. Iva was a member of the Eldridge Pythian Sisters and served two terms as Grand Chief of Iowa and five years as Grand Secretary.

Those left to honor her memory include her son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Debbie Auliff of rural Princeton, Iowa; twin grandchildren, James and Grace Auliff; step-grandson, Travis Jones; four sisters, Ruth Heuer, Joann Boysen, Truly Marten and Marsha Ketelsen; two brothers, Otto and Merle Wendhausen; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; a sister, Orpha Lively and a sister, Inez in infancy.

Iva’s family wishes to thank the staff at the Iowa Masonic Home and the nurses from Genesis Hospice for their wonderful care during Iva’s final days.
