Ivadelle Worley

Ivadelle Pauline “Ivy” Worley, 89, died on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the King’s Harvest Animal Shelter.

She was born in Linwood, Iowa on February 14, 1933, the daughter of Thomas and Marian (Guest) McBride.  On May 5, 1951, Ivy was united in marriage to Hershel L. Worley in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He preceded her in death on August 22, 2003.

For many years, she worked alongside her husband at Twin Bridges Shell and Duck Creek Shell in Bettendorf which they owned and operated for 44 years.

Ivy loved to travel.  She and Hershel had visited Ireland, Scotland, the Bahamas, Hawaii, and many other memorable destinations.  They especially enjoyed spending winters in their RV in Arizona and Florida.  After Hershel’s death, she continued to travel with her family and was always ready for a road trip.  She loved animals of all kinds and looked after any stray who was hungry or in need of shelter.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Debra Deere of Davenport; her son, Darryl (Diana) Worley of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Michelle (Chad Wynn) Deere of Bettendorf, Clarice (Jeff Plans) Deere of Davenport and Katherine (Ron) Manthe of Eldridge, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Autumn Wynn, Everett, Waylon and Ruth Manthe; and many beloved nieces and nephews.  Amazingly, she remembered the birthday of all her nieces and nephews including the year they were born.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ditty Lane, Marian Leckington and Dolores Harkins; and her brothers, Tom McBride and Dean McBride.
