Ivan L. Wilson, 85, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Monday, April 25, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport, Iowa.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. He will be laid to rest in Jack’s Cemetery, LeClaire. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

He was born February 13, 1926 in LeClaire, the son of Samuel & Alta (Tobey) Wilson. On May 2, 1947, he was united in marriage to Evelyn N. Auliff in Davenport.

Ivan was a farmer and a 28 year employee of the Scott County Road Department. He was a life-member of the Moose Lodge, a member of the Springbrook Country Club of DeWitt, Iowa and a member of the Princeton Presbyterian Church.

Ivan loved horses and rode his horse to school with his future wife, Evelyn whom he met in while they attended grade school. He also enjoyed reading western books of all kinds.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife of nearly 64 years, Evelyn; his daughter, Patricia (Jim) Carr of Davenport; his sons, Richard (Karen) Wilson of Davenport and Michael Wilson of Storm Lake, Iowa; his grandchildren, Molly (Mike Kohler) Wilson, Matthew Wilson & his fiancé, Jennie Simmons, Jeffrey Wilson & his girlfriend, Rebecca and Andrew Wilson & his fiancé, Elizabeth Korzelik; his great-grandchildren, Wilson Kohler & Samantha Kohler; along with many other relatives and wonderful friends.

Ivan was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Wilson and his sister, Iva Wilson.
