Jack R. Gibbs, 72, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Trinity Bettendorf following a sudden illness.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the LeClaire Volunteer Fire Department or the Iowa Donor Network. Jack gave the gift of life following his death as an organ donor.
He was born December 29, 1939 in Tyty, Georgia, the son of Robert & Nell Gibbs.
Jack worked at the Oscar Mayer & Company of Davenport for over 30 years, retiring in 1997.
He loved being with family, enjoyed fishing, hunting, practical jokes and playing the lotto. Jack enjoyed the company of all of his close friends in LeClaire.
Those left to honor his memory include his children, Toni (Carl) Temple of Davenport, Iowa, Traci (Jerry) Cralle of Rock Island, Illinois, Robbin (Charles Griffith) Cornett of Brooklyn, Iowa and Eric Gibbs in Tennessee; his grandchildren, Bobbie, Wendy, Robert, Beau, Nickie & Dillion; sixteen great-grandchildren; and his sister, Helen “Sissy” Shannon of Lennox, Georgia.

Jack was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Colton Myrick; his infant son, Jason Gibbs; his brother, William Gibbs; and his parents.
