Jack Lund

Jack L. Lund, 81, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Cremation rites will follow.  Memorials may be made to the Quad-City Greyhound Adoption.

Jack was born December 13, 1933 in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Shirley & Nadine (Wheeler) Lund.  He attended Sudlow and Central schoolsin Davenport.  He was united in marriage to Barbara Peterla on June 14, 1952 in Rock Island, Illinois.

Jack was retired from the Beeline Company after many years of employment.  He had also worked for the Goettsch brothers at Hans’ Skelly for several years.  After retirement, Jack worked for Carquest.  Jack was an avid aviator, having been a pilot for many years.  His memberships included the Experimental Aircraft Association, Warbirds of America and the Navion Society. He also loved his greyhounds, having adopted over ten dogs over the years.  He also enjoyed bicycling, motorcycles and motor scooters.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Barbara; his daughter, Chris (Mike) McCoy of Bettendorf; his sons, Michael (Barb) Lund of Bettendorf, Dennis (Dawn) Lund of Bettendorf, Richard Lund of Colona; Charles (Tammy) Lund of Bettendorf, Paul Lund of Bettendorf and Jack Lund Jr. of Bettendorf; fifteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
