Jack Spratt

Jack Spratt, 92, a resident of Riverdale, Iowa died on Monday, July 27, 2020 at UnityPoint Trinity, Bettendorf.

Services to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf.  Burial will be at the Rock Island National Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.  Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the family.  Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, social distancing and face masks are requested.

He was born in Nelsonville, Missouri on January 31, 1928, the son of Harlie & Ann (Hurt) Spratt.  In February of 1946, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Helena.  In December of 1947, he was honorably discharged as a Radarman 3rd Class.

On April 20, 1968, Jack was united in marriage to Lillian J. “Tootie” Kosgard in Rock Island, Illinois.  She preceded him in death on December 15, 2010.

Jack worked as a finish carpenter for many years and was a member of the American Legion Post 154 of Bettendorf.  His beloved family was the joy of his life and he treasured the times spent with them.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Debbie (Frank) McNeil of Bettendorf and Cyndee (Dr. Thomas) Clayton of Senaca, Pennsylvania; his son, Stephen E. Spratt of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Minoru (Tomoko) Underhill, Tracy (Dustin) Wood, Michael (Jen) Collins and Rebecca (Brandon) Oakill; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

In addition to his wife, Jack was preceded in death by his son, Michael L. Spratt and his brother, Harlie A. Spratt.
