Jack Treanton

November 7, 1926 — October 14, 2017

Jack E. Treanton, 90, of Bettendorf, died Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Manor Care-Utica Ridge in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Lowden Cemetery in Lowden, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Jack was born on November 7, 1926 in California, a son of Paul & Violet Treanton.  He had served in the United States Navy and retired from Sivyer Steel in Bettendorf after 50 years of employment.

Jack was united in marriage to Lois F. Angell in Bettendorf on August 10, 1978.

Jack had enjoyed playing cards and visiting the former Lady Luck Casino.  He and Lois also frequented Bettendorf’s Hy-Vee for dinners.  He was an avid reader and photographer, maintaining his own darkroom at home.  He enjoyed bowling in earlier days, gardening and yard work.  Jack loved the time spent with his children, grandchildren and his dog, Twinkles.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Lois; his daughters, Valerie (Dave) Maakestad of Wisconsin, Linda Ormsby (John Crees) of Atalissa, Iowa; his sons, Richard (Cindy) Treanton of Davenport, Jerry (Treanton) Kerns of Kewanee, Illinois and a step-son, Jim (Theresa) Angell of Peoria, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Bob, of California.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jack Kirk; a step-son, Mike Proesch; his grandson, Danny Treanton; and his brother, Bill Treanton.
