Jack Woodard

Jack Manford Woodard, 62, of Eldridge passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at his home in Eldridge, IA after a courageous battle with (mesothelioma) lung cancer.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Visitation will be on Friday, November 11th from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A gathering for friends and family will be at Lady Di’s Park View Inn in Park View immediately following the service on Saturday. Private burial will be at the Mt. Joy Cemetery in Park View. Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for the Holden Cancer Center.
Jack was born on August 18, 1954 in Albia, Iowa to Jack R. and Helen (Hickenlooper) Woodard. Growing up in Albia, he graduated from Albia High School in 1972. After high school he worked at various jobs before being hired at John Deere Des Moines Works in 1974. Jack transferred to Davenport Works in 1976 and in 2004 retired after 30 years of service.
Jack married Regina Swearinger on December 27, 1983 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were happily married for 32 years and together they raised three children.
When the children were young he could often be found coaching basketball, baseball or softball. Jack also enjoyed golfing and rooting for the Iowa Hawkeyes, Detroit Lions and the World Series Champion Chicago Cubs.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Regina of Eldridge; daughters, Rebekah (Wesley) Doering of Princeton, Iowa and Jillian Lackas of DeWitt, Iowa; son, Jack Tyler Woodard of Eldridge; granddaughters, Kennedy Lackas and Norah Doering; sisters, Vicki (Denny) Luptowski, Ames, Iowa and Cindy Graham of Albia, Iowa; in-laws, Wayne and Pat Hansen of Long Grove; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Catherine (Gary) Wood of Dahinda, Illinois; niece, Megan O’Neal; and nephews, Scott (Kelsey) Conley, Dana White and Devin White.
Jack will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
