Jacqueline K. Evans, 80, a resident of Davenport, passed away Friday, July 18 2008, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf following a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease).
There will be no visitation and private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
Jacqueline was born July 5, 1928 in Davenport, Iowa the daughter of Norman K and Ora C. (VonDohrn) Wilson. She was united in marriage to James L. Evans on November 27, 1962 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1997.
Jacqueline was employed at various retail establishments and the former Peter Pan Bakery. After marrying James she became a homemaker, dedicating herself to the care of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed dancing, music especially Englebert Humperkinck videos and concerts along with Cary Grant Movies. She was an excellent seamstress with a talent for building collector doll houses.
Survivors left to carry on her loving memory include her sister, Beverly & Richard (Wilson) Duncan, Davenport; her four sons, Marvin (Sandy Duncan) McCartney, Davenport, Evan &Pam Evans, Pleasant Valley, Iowa, Matthew & Melanie Evans, Lebanon, Ohio and James A. & Meg Evans, Geneva, Illinois; her two daughters, Lorena & Gary (McCartney) Hoskinson, Hot Springs, Arkansas and Lesa Evans, Davenport and nine grandchildren, Camden Evans, Morgan Evans, Devin Evans, Dustin Evans, Troy McCartney, Adam McCartney, Tommy Evans, Jacob Evans and Ilea (Colby Juntunen) Evans.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James L. Evans, her sister, Ethel Ruth Robbins, her brothers, Norman Wilson, John McNeil and Harry McNeil and her daughter, Karolyn M. McCartney.
The family would like to express its sincere thanks to the RN’s, CNA’s and staff of the 5th floor, Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport and the entire staff of the Clarissa c. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf for the wonderful care giver to Jacqueline. A very special heartfelt thanks goes to daughter Lesa Evans who devoted herself to all the years of comfort and care for her mother.
