Jacqueline M. "Jackie" Davis, 68, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, January 25, 2007 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Bettendorf where she was a member. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House or to the Bettendorf Children's Museum. Burial will take place at South Buxton Cemetery in South Buxton, Maine. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born August 18, 1939 in Biddeford, Maine, the daughter of Arthur L. & Madeline (Wormwood) Milliken and was a graduate of the University of Maine. In the summer of 1972 she was united in marriage to S. Gentry Davis in Kingston, Jamaica. He preceded her in death in 1982.
Jackie had been employed at Good News (a newspaper placement agency) and at the Mississippi Bend Area Educational Agency. In addition, she worked as a travel agent for I.V.I. Travel
She was a faithful volunteer at the Bettendorf Children's Museum and at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
Jackie enjoyed being with her friends in bridge groups, loved to play tennis & golf and especially liked watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Joyce Burnham of Owl's Head, Maine; her sons, James (Marta) Burnham of Pleasant Valley, Iowa and Jay (Nancy) Burnham of Auburn, Washington; her grandchildren, Chelsea & Aleisha Sonksen, Andy, Matt & Madeline Burnham and Allison, Eric & Stephanie Burnham; and her step-daughter, Deborah Hollenbach in Pennsylvania.
In addition to her husband, Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; and her step-son, Russell Davis.
