James M. DeFrieze

Memorial services for James Michael DeFrieze, 34, of Des Moines, formerly of Davenport, will be 10:00 am on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Heritage Wesleyan Church, Rock Island, IL., located at 4801 44th St., Rock Island, IL. Family will greet friends on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. He passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in Des Moines. 

James was born on August 27, 1990, the son of Michael and Susan (Acker) DeFrieze. He graduated from North Scott High School in 2009. He then attended and graduated pre-med at Notre Dame in 2014 and was currently enrolled at Des Moines University’s Osteopathic program. He enjoyed sports, excelling in football and baseball, loved golf, and spending time with his family. 

Survivors include his parents, Michael of Davenport, Susan of Rock Island, brother, Louis of Davenport, numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Sharon DeFrieze, Peggy Oviatt, Robert and Geraldine Acker, uncle, Joseph Acker, cousins, Joseph Acker Jr, Matthew Willman and Christy Carlson.
