Funeral services for James Stanley DeVol, 88, of Davenport, formerly of Bettendrf, will be 11:00 am on Wednesday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Wednesday from 10:00 am to service time at the funeral home.
James passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Crest Health Care, Davenport.
James was born on September 17, 1935, in Colfax, IA, the son of Jahiel and Bertha (Miller) DeVol. He was united in marriage to Joyce Anderson on September 22, 1956, in Davenport. She preceded him in death on September 12, 2018. James worked as a Tool & Die Maker for Swan Engineering for 43 years, retiring in 1999. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He served in the U.S Air Force.
Survivors include his children, Cheri (Troy) Hartz, Jamie (Jeff) Kane, his grandchildren, Tara (Gina) Zelle, Calvin (Riley) Hartz, Ryan (Mary) Kane and Brandon (Forest) Kane, his great-grandchildren, Cooper Kane, Bo Kane, Ryker Hartz, Riggs Hartz, Elouise Zelle and Atticus Zelle, sister, Barb Lang and brother, Nelson DeVol.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sisters, Margaret Young and Evelyn Carver.
