James Austin Kaiser, 71, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at his home.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the family. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
James was born September 12, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Austin Joseph and Mary Gertrude (Elgin) Kaiser. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Margaret Kammerude in Dubuque on September 22, 1962.
James worked for John Deere for thirty-seven years retiring as manager of the computer department in 2001. He began his career at the Dubuque works and transferred to the Davenport Works in 1975 were he stayed until retirement.
James was a faithful member of the Fellowship at St. John Vianney Catholic Church since moving to the area.
He was a huge fan of the “Black & Gold” sports teams. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing, and was a natural story teller, prankster and comedian. He loved to laugh and make others laugh with him.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kathleen, Bettendorf; his children, Lynette (Dr. Thomas) Jodon, Hopwood, Pennsylvania, Dennis (Gail) Kaiser, Davenport, Iowa, Ann (J.L.) Williams, LeClaire, Iowa, Alan (Julie) Kaiser, Kechi, Kansas, Kim (Joseph) Yandoli, Wyckoff, New Jersey, Lori Kaiser, Bettendorf and Greg Kaiser, Bettendorf; his special daughter, Denise Bevard; his grandchildren, Austin, Jared, Tyler, Dereck, Dayton, Brandon, Laken, Jordan, Sarah, Samantha, Justin, Kirsten, Katelyn, Morgan and Owen; his great-grandchildren, Hailey, William and Thatcher; his brother, William (Ellen) Kaiser, Dubuque; his sisters-in-law, Darlene Magby, Platteville, Wisconsin, Teresa (Melvin) Donar, Cuba City, Wisconsin and Joan Kammerude, Arizona; his brothers-in-law, Anthony (Pat) Kammerude, Hazel Green, Wisconsin, Michael Kammerude, Galena, Illinois and David (Peggy) Kammerude, Texas; his nephew, Nicholas Kaiser and numerous other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and several other family members.
