James L. Kilcoin, 76, of Bettendorf, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf after a valiant battle with lung cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2013 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association.

Jim was born in Milan, IL on August 26, 1936, to Leonard F. and Evelyn M. (Fillmer) Kilcoin. He attended Alleman High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in September 1953. After serving in Hawaii and California, he was discharged in September 1956. Jim married Judith Bridge in Rock Island on August 16, 1958.

Jim was a corrugated packaging salesman for Container Corporation, Rock Island, and later in charge of regional folding carton sales for Warren Packaging, Davenport. He retired in 1999.

Jim was a loyal husband and true friend. He will be fondly remembered as a loving father and grandfather, an avid bass fisherman who loved his trips to Table Rock Lake every spring and fall as well as weekly fishing on the Mississippi and other local waterways. He also was passionate about playing golf on the local links.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Judy; their sons, Rick (Misty) Kilcoin of Bettendorf and Rory (Suzanne) Kilcoin of Ankeny; their daughter, Rachel Fetterman of Lincoln, NE; seven cherished grandchildren, Mackenzie, Scott, Cassidy, Kate, Theresa, Matthew and Addison; two step-granddaughters, Kaitlin and Megan; his siblings, Joanne (Bud) Waller of Michigan City, IN, Sharon Courter of Rock Island and Mike (Lynette) Kilcoin of Encinitas, CA; many nieces, nephews and their children.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Daniel; nephew Todd Kilcoin and an infant daughter, Ann.
