James Spray

James Robert Spray, 82, a resident of Bettendorf, died Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Bettendorf. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at church on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jim was born on April 14, 1933 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Hugh and Lucille (Weir) Spray. On April 22, 1960 in Des Moines, he married Nancy Drottz.
Jim served his country in the United States Navy from 1954 – 1956. He worked for Midwest Automatic Sprinkler in Davenport, retiring in 1999 as branch manager. Jim enjoyed drawing, sports and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Nancy; son, David (Jane) Spray of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Brandie Willers, Sarah Alderson, Brad Spray, Lacey Alderson and Terrance Spray; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Michelle Alderson; one brother and one sister.
