James D. Broderick, 61, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died Friday, February 25, 2004 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
He was born January 15, 1944 in Davenport, the son of Robert W. & Thelma G. (Hill) Broderick Sr. and was a 1963 graduate of Bettendorf High School. In 1970, he married the former Cynthia Ann Bahnks.
Jim served in the National Guard from 1963 to 1965 and in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1968, with sevice in Viet Nam from 1966 to 1967. Upon his honorable discharge, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Viet Nam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and the Republic of Viet Nam Campaign Medal.
He was employed as a grinder for the Sivyer Steel Company in Bettendorf for 23 years.
Jim deeply loved his entire family and had a special place in his heart for his beloved grandchildren. He was a regular visitor to the gambling boats and in earlier years, enjoyed horses.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter & son-in-law, Kristin & Brent Wise of Lenox, Iowa; his son & daughter-in-law, Ryan & Courtney Broderick of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Brittany, Colby, Kyan, Kylian, Aiden & Kalee; his mother, Thelma Broderick of Bettendorf; his sister & brother-in-law, Barbara & Tom Butenschoen of Blue Grass, Iowa; his brothers & sisters-in-law, Robert W. & Joan Broderick Jr. of Bettendorf, Charles L. & Rejeana Broderick of Davenport, Iowa and Kevin R. Broderick of Bettendorf; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert on September 25, 1976; and by his brother, Gary on June 28, 1968.
