James P. DeWitt, 65, a resident of rural Blue Grass, Iowa died on Monday, July 14, 2008 at his home following an extended illness.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 17, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Davenport, Iowa. Interment will be private. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, 2322 E. Kimberly Rd., Davenport, Iowa 52807.
He was born November 4, 1942 in Seattle, Washington, the son of James L. & Agnes (Cosgrove) DeWitt. On July 27, 1996, he was united in marriage to Pat Jaynes in Davenport.
Jim was a printer and established a printing business in Denver, Colorado in 1976. After moving to the Quad-Cities in 1978, he founded, owned & operated The Printery in Davenport. In 1994, he merged his company with Dimensional Graphics and retired in 2005.
Jim enjoyed playing golf, loved to ride his motorcycle and was an avid game player on the computer.
Those left to honor his memory include his beloved wife, Pat; his step-daughter, Jessica Bingham of Silvis, Illinois; and grandsons, Joshua & Jaiden; and a fellowship of great friends who were very supportive during his illness.
His parents preceded him in death.
