James W. Thiering, 78, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Davenport.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 21, 2005 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.
He was born February 25, 1927 in , the son of Amil & () Thiering. On December 23, 1963, he was united in marriage to Shirley I. Korner in Rock Island, Illinois. She preceded him in death on August 13, 1998.
James was employed in the Heat Treat/Thermal Department of the Alcoa Company, retiring in 1989 after 34 years of service.
He was a former member of the Davenport Elks, the Davenport Moose and the Aluminum, Brick & Glassworkers Union Local 105.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing pool and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Linda Logsdon of Davenport; his sons & daughter-in-law, William Thiering and Roger & Melanie Thiering, all of Davenport; and his grandchildren, Jeffrey, Christina, Joseph, Brett, Amber & Samantha.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
