Jane A. Klinkenberg, 89, a resident of The Fountains in Bettendorf died on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport.
Private family services will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church of Bettendorf where she was a longtime and faithful member. McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born December 1, 1920 in Garnaville, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur & Eva (Hinsch) Mohrman. On November 28, 1940, she was united in marriage to LuVern W. “Tony” Klinkenberg at St. Olaf, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2009.
Jane retired some years ago as a secretary for the former Leeds & Northrup Company of Bettendorf.
She was an accomplished cook who loved to prepare meals & other treats for her family. Jane played the accordion & organ and once even performed with Lawrence Welk during his earlier years of entertainment. She & her husband, Tony loved to dance and enjoyed traveling as well for many years.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Barbara (Lyle) Miller and Bonnie (Bud) Fox, all of Davenport; her son, William Klinkenberg of Davenport & his fiancé, Jean Powers; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Artus of Dubuque, Iowa.
In addition to her husband, Jane was preceded in death by her brother, Wally Mohrman; and by her parents.
