Janet Eileen Kluever, 85, a resident of Eldridge, Iowa died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M.on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church, Eldridge.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the church and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service Wednesday.  Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery, Maysville, Iowa.  Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, the Activities Fund at Grand Haven Retirement Community, Eldridge or to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Janet was born April 7, 1927 in Eldridge the daughter of Hugo and Viola (Meinert) Clausen.  She graduated from Davenport Central High in 1944.  She was united in marriage to Aaron Kluever on December 5, 1948.  He preceded her in death on February 13, 1986.  She looked forward to the time she would be reunited with him in Heaven.

She and her husband raised their five children on their rural Scott County farm until his death.  She continued to reside there until 1997.

She began her career as a bank teller at Central Trust and Savings Bank in Eldridge. For a time she was a farm wife and raised their children.  She returned to work at the Donahue Savings Bank which became Davenport Bank and Trust.  She retired in 1992 after 20 years.

As a youth she was active in 4-H and continued her 4-H support with her children and grandchildren.  She was a devoted and active member of Faith Lutheran Church where her ministry included providing transportation for numerous friends.  She was a member of the Pythian Sisters Eldridge Temple #230 for over fifty years and served as the Pythian Sisters state treasurer.  She was a member of the Davenport Liedertaufel.  She volunteered in the gift shop at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport for over twenty years.  She was also a great cook and her family looked forward to her excellent home-cooked meals. She was an avid card player and belonged to many card clubs.  She also enjoyed traveling.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Dianne (Dave) Brotherson, Ames, Iowa, Jayne (Paul) Dierickx, Long Grove, Iowa and Kathy (Tim) Smit, Wellman, Iowa; her sons Rod (Karen) Kluever, Delmar, Iowa and David Kluever, Walcott, Iowa; her grandchildren, Jason Kluever, Lucas Kluever, Tara Rudolphi, Jenni Kluever, Beth Mills, Laura Robson, Mike Dierickx, Jody Dierickx, Maggy Smit, Aaron Smit and Ryan Smit; ten great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Paustian, Walcott and her brother-in-law, Walt Dengler, Eldridge.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Samuel Miskimins; her sister, Elaine Dengler and her infant sister.
