Obituary: Janet Claire (Koering) Mott
On April 15, 2009, God called His faithful servant, Janet Claire (Koering) Mott, to be home with Him after a two year bout with ovarian cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf, Iowa. A celebration of life visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Janet was born in Brainerd, Minnesota on April 18, 1935, the daughter of Marmion (Tollefsrud) and Fredrick William Koering. She attended Alleman High School in Rock Island, Illinois. On the 23rd of December 1952, Janet married Donald L. Mott in Rock Island.
Janet was a devoted wife and homemaker. Janet and Donald are the proud parents of three sons and one daughter: Michael Mott of Rural Keosauqua, Iowa; Ronald and Trine (Breyholtz) Mott of Winchester, Virginia; James and Jeanne Mott of Morning Sun, Iowa; and Michelle “Missy Mott” and Christopher Juehring of Rock Island, Illinois.
Grandchildren were the highlight of her life. She was blessed to have twelve grandchildren with whom she was able to spend treasured moments, participating in special moments in each of their lives.
She loved life to the fullest and looked forward to each and every new day. Janet gave freely of herself to family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, playing cards and watching the birds and wildlife from her windows. Janet was committed to enjoy every day, not letting her illness get in the way of the joy each moment held.
Janet’s faith was a focal point of her life. She shared her faith freely with whom she came in contact. She was an active member of the River of Life Church in Bettendorf. Her faith sustained her throughout the illness and she will forever be in a “Bubble of Grace” with God.
In addition to her husband, Donald, children and grandchildren, Janet is also survived by her mother, Marmion Ketcham of Bettendorf and sister, Judith Stegall of Yuma, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandson, Eirik-Andre Breyhotlz-Mott.
Janet and her family wish to thank all their friends, neighbors and medical personnel for the loving care, support and prayers offered throughout Janet’s life.
