Janice L. McCoy, 63, a resident of Davenport, Iowa, known affectionately as “Memaw” by her loved ones, died on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus in Davenport following an extended illness.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 12, 2012 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. She will be laid to rest at Blue Grass Cemetery, Blue Grass, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
She was born in Moline, Illinois on September 11, 1949, the daughter of Ralph & Virginia (Duffey) Bloom. On February 28, 1972, she was united in marriage to Donald E. McCoy in Rock Island, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1990.
Janice was a devoted homemaker and mom and in earlier years, worked as a waitress. She enjoyed crosswords puzzles, listening to her police scanner and watching TV.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Michele McCoy of Davenport and Michele’s boyfriend, DeWayne Simons; her step-daughter, Patricia (Allen) Ferrel of Davenport; her step-son, Donald (Debbie) McCoy of Olathe, Kansas; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five children whom she thought of as her grandchildren, Mark, Tatiana, Makayiah, Cameron & Dharzhae; her sister, Patricia (Larry) Aegerter of Glendale, Arizona; and her nieces & nephews, Jeanette, Cathy, Mettie, Christa, Jera and Larry Jr.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gene Bloom and her parents.
