Janice E. Smith

Janice E. Smith, 81, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Monday, August 6, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus in Davenport, Iowa with her beloved family at her side.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 10, 2007 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
She was born September 22, 1925 in Twin Valley, Minnesota, the daughter of John & Amanda (Otterness) Schow. On October 14, 1943, she was united in marriage to Alvin R. Smith in San Francisco, California.
Janice was employed in the apparel department of K & K Hardware in Bettendorf retiring in 1985 after 17 years of faithful service.
She loved caring for her garden and enjoyed doing needlework.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Alvin; her daughter & son-in-law, Judy & Robert Schaapveld of Muscatine, Iowa; her grandchildren, Matthew Schaapveld & his wife, Heather of Davenport and Daniel Schaapveld & his wife, Amanda of Muscatine; her great-grandson, Aiden Schaapveld; and her brothers, J. Raymond Schow and Arnold Schow, both of Twin Valley, Minnesota.
Janice was preceded in death by her sisters, June Habben and Alice Hovde.
