Jasper Boyd Stroud, 83, a resident of Davenport, Iowa died Thursday, January 29, 2004 at the Davenport Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Grandview Baptist Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to the church or Gideon’s International.
He was born September 20, 1920 in Seymour, Iowa, the son of Jasper Everett & Nora (Dodson) Stroud. On December 25, 1940, he was united in marriage to Lorene E. Bennett in Russell, Iowa.
Jasper was employed as a machinist for International Harvester, Farmall Works, Rock Island, Illinois, retiring in 1980 after 36 years of service.
He was an active member of Grandview Baptist Church where he served as a trustee, volunteered as head usher, taught Sunday School and drove the church bus. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, playing golf with his many friends, metal crafts and working on his cars.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 63 years, Lorene; his daughter & son-in-law, Darlene & Gary Padavich of Centerville, Iowa; their daughter & her husband, Darci & Dennis Whitlow and their children, Cayleigh & Kaden; his son & daughter-in-law, Dale & Janet Stroud of Springfield, Ohio; their son & his wife, Steven & Anne Stroud & their children, David, Benjamin & Luke; their daughter & her husband, Suzan & Anthony Ojeda and their child, Madison; his son & daughter-in-law, Don & Ilene Stroud of Long Grove, Iowa; their daughter & her husband, Mandy & Chris Mallicoat & their children, Abby & Reagan; and their sons, Jay Stroud and Andy Stroud; and his daughter & son-in-law, Deloris & Jim McGimpsey of Eldridge, Iowa; and their daughters, Jenny McGimpsey & Amiee McGimpsey; and his sister, Lucille Hildebrand of Seymour, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Wesley Stroud; and his brother-in-law, Keith Morrow.
