Jean C. Fender, 89, a resident of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at her home.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Christ’s Family Church in Davenport. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 21st from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Christ’s Family Church or the American Heart Association.
Jean was born on November 27, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of John C. and Mabel H. (Hopkins) Lander. On November 30, 1946 in Chicago, she married Irwin Frischkorn. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1985. On February 13, 1993 in Davenport, she married Robert Fender. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2004.
Jean was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ’s Family Church in Davenport, Friendship Force and Widows and Widowers Group. She enjoyed bowling and refinishing furniture. Jean sang in the church choir and at CASI.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters, Nancy Ferguson of Morris, Illinois and Karen (Mike) Spurrier of LeClaire; sons, Robert (Gloria) Frischkorn of Fairmount, Illinois and Richard (Deb) Frischkorn of Suring, Wisconsin; step-children, Barbara McClure of Snellville, Georgia and Fred (Grace) Fender of Oklahoma; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and special friends, Pam and Dave Meyer and their family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and two brothers, John and Franklin.
