Jean Woomer
December 30, 1947 — October 14, 2017
Jean A. Woomer, 69, a resident of Grand Haven Retirement Community in Eldridge, Iowa and formerly of Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away in her home Saturday, October 14, 2017 after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Chambers Funeral Home of Eldridge is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born December 30, 1947 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Jean was the daughter of the late Melvin B. Campbell and Helen G. Campbell.
She truly loved the Lord and devoted her life to serving Him and those around her. Her hobbies were reading, working puzzles, and feeding the birds. Her passions were loving others and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a follower of Jesus.
Jean is survived by her son (Benjamin Woomer), daughter-in-law, (Molly Woomer), and two grandchildren (Atle and Julia Woomer).
A private prayer service was held for family and friends. A private burial will be held at Grandview Cemetery in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Breast Cancer
My mom fought breast cancer for over 6 years. Without the cancer research she would have never made it this long. These past 6 years have been a gift to me, especially this past year. For those that don’t know my story we adopted Atle 5 years ago and Julia was born almost 2 years ago now. My mom got to become a Grandma and my family is forever impacted by it. If in some way her passing could allow another family to have more time, she would be honored.

Prayer Tower
God’s on the move in the Quad Cities! My mom being a Jesus Follower and Prayer Warrior sees it and has engaged it. Recently Heritage Church acquired the KONE building by the I-74 bridge. Most people know it as the tower with the Christmas Tree. The facility is centrally located in the QCA and will serve as a regional hub to love and serve the area. The movement has specific realities in the areas of prayer, multiplication, reconciliation, and collaboration. When my mom first learned the tower would be transformed into a 24/7 prayer she was overjoyed! She was excited for the impact it would leave on generations to come. The space will be a catalyst of HOPE and LOVE for the Quad Cities, a place where peace and prosperity of the cities is sought. The story of how this all came about is God-sized.
