Jeanette E. Ritter

Jeanette E. (LaGrange) Ritter, 88, a resident of LeClaire, Iowa died on Monday, May 5, 2008 at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 9, 2008 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Chapel in Bettendorf. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House or to Trinity Lutheran Church of Pleasant Valley.
She was born February 3, 1920 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of George & Frieda (Slaby) Ott. On November 25, 1937, she was united in marriage to James LaGrange in Davenport. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1977. She was later united in marriage to Edwin “Hans” Ritter in Pleasant Valley on April 19, 1979. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1997. She was later united in marriage to Harry H. Ritter in Pleasant Valley on December 5, 1998.
Jeanette was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed caring for her large garden. She canned virtually everything the garden produced and shared this bounty with family & friends. She also loved to knit afghans.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Harry; her son, Jack (Paula) LaGrange of Davenport; her step-daughter, Alice (Dan) Walker of Muscatine; her step-sons, Louis Ritter of Muscatine and Charles (Marilyn) Ritter of Oskaloosa, Iowa; her grandchildren, Jack (Susie LaGrange) LaGrange Jr., Heidi Lynn Shaw, Shelly (Tiney) Bailey and Michael LaGrange; ten great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren (and another expected soon); her sister, Pat (Ernie) Baumbach of Bettendorf; and many beloved nieces, nephews & cousins.
In addition to her husbands, her parents, Frieda & Rick Hambell; her son, James L. LaGrange Jr., and her sisters, Marie Ott and JoAnn Hambell, preceded Jeanette in death.
