Jeannette Thackston Barger, 76, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Iowa.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Monday, November 30, 2009 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home of Bettendorf. Services and burial will take place in Hillsboro, Kentucky. Memorials may be made to the family.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Melvin Austin of Burlington, Iowa and Roger Austin of Coffeyville, Kansas; her daughter, Frances Lent of Ft. Pierce, Florida; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sisters, Charme Gaither of Panama City, Florida, Patricia Snider Holt of Lexington, Kentucky and Nancy Snider May of Peebles, Ohio; and her brothers, Alvin Thackston of Cincinnati, Ohio and Steven Kenley of Hillsboro, Kentucky.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her son, Cecil Austin; and her brothers, Charles Thackston and George Thackston.
