Jerene Lee Voelkers, 67, a resident of Bettendorf, Iowa died on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:30 P.M. Monday, December 19, 2011 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. The family will greet friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
She was born in Davenport, Iowa on January 1, 1944, the daughter of George & Vivian Marie (Stanley) Stevens. On January 18, 1964, she was united in marriage to Jerry L. Voelkers in Davenport.
Jerene was a devoted wife, mom & grandma who in earlier years, worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant with Genesis Medical Center and the Visiting Nurses Association.
She loved to play cards, enjoyed internet games and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Jerry; her sons, Jerry Lee (Bonnie) Voelkers of Bettendorf, Terry (Cathy) Voelkers of Davenport and David (Katrina) Voelkers of East Moline, Illinois; her beloved grandchildren, Kyle, Breanna, Brandon, Bradley & Alivia; her sisters, Darlene and Sharon; her brothers, Gary and Curtis; and her very special friends, Gina & Ed Groenbeck of Davenport.
Her parents preceded her in death.
