Jerold Foran

Jerold L. “Jerry” Foran, 79, of Davenport, died Thursday, August 13, 2015 at ManorCare Health Services in Davenport.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Newcomb Presbyterian Church of Davenport.

Jerry was born July 20, 1936 in Centerville, Iowa, the son of Rall & Ida Lee (Main) Foran, who was later united in marriage to Laurel Cosner.  He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959.

Jerry was united in marriage to Mona Simatovich in Bettendorf in 1958 and later to Marie A. Robertson on July 19, 1969 in North Hollywood, California.  She preceded him in death on March 20, 2006.

Jerry had been employed with Alcoa and Oscar Meyer for several years.  While in California, he had worked in security at Universal Studios and MCA Records.  Following retirement, he had worked for Cub Foods and Hy-Vee.

Jerry enjoyed watching football and he had enjoyed bowling in earlier years.  Most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Deanna (Ray) Palmer of Clinton, Iowa, and Denise Spurgeon of Clinton; his son, Keith (Jana) Foran of Davenport; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren with one on the way; his sister, Lilah Hughes of Davenport; his brother, Charles Cosner of McCausland, Iowa; one niece and three nephews; and a dear and special friend, Barbara Bennett of Eldridge, Iowa.

In addition to his wives, Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his son Jeff Foran; and his nephew, Tom Cosner.
